It has been a busy and exciting month! Recently, I had updated my test environment in preparation for the release of “Orion” – Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013. My latest test environment consists of Windows Server 2012 R2, SQL Server 2012 SP1, Windows 8.1 and Office 2013!
Note that from the official Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Compatibility List, Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1 are not listed as being supported at this time (I’d downloaded the release version “RTM” which is available from Microsoft MSDN).
But, I’m happy to say that with my above test environment – I’m able to install the latest Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 On-Premises OK. I’m able to run CRM SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) reports and the Microsoft CRM 2011 Outlook Client can go offline/online just fine. Be sure to check yes to obtain the latest CRM installation updates during the installation step and afterwards, install the latest CRM 2011 Update Rollup (UR 14). It was a bit challenging to install the Update Rollup 14 for the CRM Outlook Client in Windows 8.1 – here is a community discussion thread that helped.
I’d also tested out CRM Online using Windows 8.1 and CRM Outlook Client via Office 2013 – it is working nicely!
Caution: this is not an exhaustive testing, my setup is mainly for testing purposes, so for production use – I’d suggest waiting for the official support as outlined in the Compatibility List above.
Looking forward to playing with CRM 2013 Beta using my latest and greatest test environment!
