How To: Changing Trial Product Key to Production Product Key in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

As of March 17, 2011, the Microsoft CRM 2011 90 Day Convertible Trial Key is what most of us used to install the final release (RTM) of Microsoft CRM 2011 On Premise Or Partner Hosted.

As we receive our actual production key – here is how we change/update the Convertible Trial Product Key:

  • Login to the Microsoft CRM 2011 Server, open the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Deployment Manager (Start >> Programs >> Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 >> Deployment Manager):

  • Action menu >> Change Product Key

That is all there is to updating the Microsoft CRM 2011 Product Key.

    Hi

I have a trial CRM 2011 Server install On-Premises and it has now expired.
Was hoping to get our On-Line version going before this happened but alas not.
In the meantime I would like to license our CRM 2011 Workgroup edition which we have but when I enter the product key it says it is incompatible.
I suspect this is because the install trial is full Server and I am trying to enter a WorkGroup key.
Is there any way to do this as we have a lot of customisations done so prefer not to reinstall.

  4. Unfortunately the switch from a Server editon to a Workgroup edition is not supported as you had expereinced, only from Workgroup to Server. Only supported option would be to obtain a Server key. Or maybe try rolling back the time on your CRM server to see if you can login and then export all the customizations.

We are upgrading to CRM 2011, we downloaded and installed the Trial Version. The Trial Version has now expired so we are trying to enter the Product Key. Following your instructions above in Deployment Manager, we do not have the option under Actions to Change Product Key. Do you know how we can enter the Product Key now that the Trial version has expired?
